Machined Components for Aerospace and Defense
At Intrex Aerospace, we regularly invest in new equipment that allows us to produce machined components for aerospace and defense, more efficiently. As part of our commitment to Lean manufacturing, we’ve recently created a new production cell dedicated to producing flanges quickly and efficiently.
The two high-speed Mori Seiki NZL-2500 CNC turning lathes in this cell are well suited to producing thin-walled flanged parts. These twin turret lathes are equipped with automatic bar loaders, parts catchers and finished parts retrieval system. They can produce precision machined components with little operator interaction. This equipment also allows for quick change over. It can efficiently produce flanges in diameters from less than 1” up to 8”. With the increased throughput this production cell provides, we can be more competitive, on machined components. We also have additional production cells with horizontal and vertical precision CNC machining centers and turning lathes, allowing us to produce a variety of aerospace parts.
We have an in-house operator training matrix managed through our IQS quality software system. This multilevel program provides training, testing and grading for the skills our operators need to work in a manufacturing environment. Many of our machinists have more than 10 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing. This experience and training allows us to efficiently fill high-mix, low-volume orders of machined components. Our operators have also undergone Lean training from the Colorado Association for Manufacturing and Technology.
