Aerospace Machining & Component Manufacturing
Intrex Aerospace has been involved in aerospace machining & component manufacturing for over 30 years. Part of our success is attributable to making improvements and updating our equipment, our facility, and training our employees.
Steps Moving Forward
Quality
Machining within AS9100 and ISO quality management systems requires experience, diligence, and investment. Intrex has made large investments updating our quality system. We’ve invested in a quality management software package which is integrated with our Epicor ERP/MRP system. This software allows us to track a range of quality control metrics, such as CPk and SPCs. We can also use it to generate reports that allow our customers to see how we’ve improved quality and reduced waste throughout the production of their precision components.
Machine Tools
Computer numeric controlled (CNC) machining is synonymous with modern manufacturing practices. Precision CNC machining services greatly increase reliability and repeatability, while reducing the potential for human error. We are continually upgrading both our CNC production machines and our support equipment. Our current types of equipment include:
- CNC lathes (2 axis)
- CNC lathes w/milling (3 axis)
- CNC twin spindle turn/ mills (5-7 axis)
- CNC vertical mills (4 axis)
- CNC horizontal mills (4 axis)
Our latest 2019 investment is a DMG/Mori NTX series, 6-sided machining with turn/mill spindle.
Facility
Intrex Aerospace is located in Thornton, CO. We moved into our 75,000-square-foot building in 2013. Our modern 75,000-square-foot facility is sized and designed for not only managing existing business, but also allowing space for new business opportunities.
Our facility is modern, clean, and well lit. Much of our equipment is arranged in cells. Many of these cells have Zeiss shop floor CMMs. The CMMs are integrated into our Epicor ERP/MRP system. Access to the cell CMMs helps improve quality, throughput, and overall efficiencies.
Employee Involvement & Training
At Intrex we believe that employee involvement and training is foundational to controlling cost and increasing efficiencies. We are practitioners of LEAN. We recognize the value of LEAN. We believe and train our staff in Six Sigma principles. Lean Six Sigma methods are rooted in process improvement systems like Total Quality Management (TQM). By utilizing these methods, we improve quality while we identify and eliminate waste.
