Variety of Materials for Defense Components
In the world of supplying machined components to the defense market, there are no “preferred” materials. There are a variety of materials for defense components. The raw material requirements range from aluminum to CR steel, SS, Inconel, monel, TZM, and more. We have experience in many of these materials. We have produced machined parts from solid/castings/forgings in a variety of materials like aluminum, cold/hot roll steel, stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, TZM, and more. Raw material requirements are all customer driven.
Investment in the Correct Equipment
One of the requirements for successfully machining this breadth of material is having rigid reliable equipment. We have made significant investments in modern state-of-the-art equipment. Our latest machine investments in CNC multi-axis machines and in dual-spindle 5-axis turn/mills with tool changers allows us to machine exotic materials with complex shapes. The multi-axis machines can reduce the need for multiple setups, minimizing the chance for error stack up. It also allows us to produce parts in high, medium, and low volumes.
ITAR Compliant
In addition to producing machined components for defense, Intrex Aerospace is experienced with producing parts with ITAR requirements. We are ITAR compliant. We can provide machined parts with the necessary certifications and documentation to meet government standards.
Our staff is experienced with the level of audit, lot traceability, and document and certification that producing defense parts requires. We are capable of providing USML controlled defense and military aircraft parts. We have both AS9100 and ISO 9001 certifications. We are experienced with defense DX or DO requirements.
Quality Assurance
Our quality management is experienced and integrated in handling defense. Our personnel and system monitor, measure, and manage all aspects of our system. We also manage the outsourcing of finishing processes (anodize, dry film lube, mag-particle inspection, passivation, powder coating).
Our quality system can provide the system controls necessary for these types of parts. Our powerful Epicor ERP/MRP software system manages the entire process: material sourcing, production scheduling, special processing management, shipping, and documentation. We are familiar and experienced with FAIs and AOGs.
Cost Control
Controlling cost is always important in producing precision aerospace parts. We are constantly updating our production and support equipment and improving our systems and methods. We constantly train our staff in Six Sigma principles. Lean Six Sigma methods are rooted in process improvement systems like Total Quality Management (TQM). By utilizing these methods, we improve quality while we identify and eliminate waste.
Total System Management
At Intrex Aerospace, we provide more than complex machining of difficult materials—we offer complete program management. Our Epicor software system monitors and controls the scheduling, throughput, and reporting of all our production work as it flows through our shop. We also provide engineering support, management of outsourcing of finishing processes, light assembly, kitting, and more.
