DMG/Mori NTX 2500
Intrex Aerospace is always updating its machine tools and systems to meet the demands of the ever-changing aerospace/space/defense marketplaces. We can produce machined components from solid – casting – forgings, in various materials and complex shapes. Our goal is to provide a complete solution to your supply chain needs. This requires flexibility and efficiency. Our latest investment in capital equipment is a DMG/Mori NTX 2500 CNC turn/mill. The unique design allows 6-sided machining with a turn and mill spindle, for 5-axis simultaneous machining.
This piece of equipment is ideally suited for the low-to-medium size run lots typical in the aerospace/space/defense markets. The machine addresses the challenges flexibility as lot sizes decrease. Our machine capabilities are:
Setup Reduction
The machine’s design has twin spindles, a turn/mill head, and an automatic tool changer so that the turn/mill head can service both spindles. It also has 5-axis simultaneous machine capabilities. The machine has access to six sides of the part. This flexibility greatly reduces the number of required setups, thus reducing the error stack-up caused by multiple setups.
Internally Transfer the Workpiece Between Two Spindles
The DMG/Mori NTX 2500 can transfer the workpiece between two spindles without operator intervention. This ability helps maintain “home” or “zero” reference as the part is transferred. This minimizes the number of chucking and eliminates much of the tolerance stack up.
Tool Heads With Rotary Drive
Adding a milling (rotary) work-head into a turn-machine envelope greatly increases machining efficiencies. It reduces the need to move the part from machine to machine, eliminating tolerance stack up.
5-Axis Simultaneous
Turn milling is defined as the milling of a curved surface while rotating the workpiece around its center point. Eccentric forms or shapes that differ considerably from those produced by conventional milling or turning operations can often be turn milled. The NTX 2500 can do just that.
Maintain Tighter Tolerance
Having state-of-the-art, multi-axis/twin-spindle machines gives us better control of the entire machining process. By reducing the number of setups, minimizing part movement, lessening the need for special fixturing, and limiting operator intervention, we can produce higher quality parts with better tolerancing and finishes. By increasing efficiencies, you also reduce cost.
Total Program Management
When you couple Intrex machining expertise with our systems control, we have the capability to administer the most challenging outsourcing program demands. We have over 20 years of experience in Integrated Logistical Supply Chain Management. Our qualified supply chain staff combined with our Epicor integrated ERP system provides the manufacturing technologies and business processes needed to make our customers’ program outsourcing successful. Our Program Management system operates on the principle that Intrex will assume the responsibility on behalf of our partners to coordinate the supply chain, manage risk, and implement systems for quality and delivery to our customers’ specific needs and requirements.
