Integrating ERP And Quality Assurance

Manufacturing of aerospace/space/defense CNC machined components requires a very high level of quality control. Intrex Aerospace has a mature controlled quality assurance program that insures all our manufactured components are measured, monitored, and documented throughout the entire manufacturing process. Control on this level of manufacturing requires integrating ERP and quality assurance. Our QMS (quality management system) is fully incorporated with our Epicor ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. Also crucial to successfully achieving this high level of integration is ongoing staff training.

Our ERP system comprises all phases of our business and manufacturing processes. The Epicor software provides analytical tools that allow us to closely monitor critical information that informs our manufacturing decisions. The integrated software system allows us to monitor in real-time. We can schedule, purchase, job-track, measure, and record any number of manufacturing functions and measure performance metrics, all within one software database. In addition (with granted access to our customers’ forecast portal) we can identify and align our production with our customers’ demand, which improves on time deliveries and optimizes operating efficiencies. We also can provide CPk and SPC’s should our customers have those requirements.

Our documented quality management system conforms to ISO9001:2015, AS 9100D and is third party registered by ASR (American System Registrar). Our integrated quality assurance program provides the high level of quality measuring, monitoring, and documentation that is required for producing aerospace, space, and defense machined components. We achieve our successful PPM’s (current yearly average <50) through an intense focus on our quality metrics.

Intrex also maintain several in house internal auditors. They audit monthly for AS 9100 compliance and improvement. Everything from our inspection, processes, to our product documentation must meet rigorous industry requirements. Because we are certified this ensures that we can perform additional quality functions (internal audits and lot traceability). Our many years of ISO and AS certification, is a testament to our commitment to quality.

ITAR Registered

Being a contract CNC machining manufacturer involved in the aerospace, space, and defense, requires some of our parts are produced under ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations).  ITAR rules are designed for U.S. government purposes It allows us to maintain control over sensitive military technology by preventing both the physical components of these systems and the knowledge needed to manufacture them from being passed to non-U.S. citizens. These rules may apply  to almost every aerospace manufacturing company since some components for commercial aircraft may be ITAR controlled, if they are essential for a military variant of the vehicle as well.

To ensure compliance with ITAR, one of the key elements is to ensure everyone on staff is a U.S. citizen or qualifies for an exemption by meeting certain criteria for residency and by being independent of foreign influence. It’s important for any aerospace manufacturer to be able to demonstrate ITAR compliance throughout the supply chain, ensuring that every business is properly vetted and registered.
