Producing Precision CNC Machined Parts for Aerospace
Dec 19, 2022Manufacturing precision CNC parts on time, is a fundamental requirement of an aerospace component provider. Intrex Aerospace has been producing precision CNC machined parts and assemblies for over 30 years. Our years of machining coupled with our Epicor ERP/MRP supply chain system and experienced staff is a winning combination.
We have a support team that can address the highest level of supply chain integration to meet the rigorous requirements of the aerospace, defense, and space market. We can provide machined parts that require a simple 2 axis CNC lathe up to complex 5 axis mill/turn shapes. Our ERP/MRP system is designed for total integration to our quality system. The necessary support documentation accompanies all our shipped parts.
Clean Modern Facility
Intrex Aerospace has a modern 75,000 sq. ft. facility. We are equipped with 30 plus CNC machines on an assortment of machine platforms, as well as the necessary ancillary support equipment. The major production machines include twin spindle/twin turret 9 axis CNC turn/mill lathe, 5-axis mill/turn w/ 80 ATC, and multiple machine centers (vertical and horizontal) w/4-axis capability. The equipment lineup of precision CNC equipment, are able to produce a variety of shapes and sizes, machining a diversity of aerospace materials.
Capital Equipment
Producing precise aerospace parts, requires a combination of experienced machinists, modern equipment, state-of-the-art MRP/ERP systems and process control. This combination allows Intrex to maintain < 50 PPM’s with 98+% OTD’s.
Intrex has made significant investments to address all facets of the manufacturing process. In the last four years they have added machining capacity and updated the CNC machines, support equipment, and systems software. Recent investments have included:
- 5 – Zeiss Dura CNC CMM
- 1 – DMG Mori NXT 2500
- 3 – DMG Mori NLX 2000SY
- 1 – DMG Mori CMX 1100
- 1 – Okuma LT 3000 3TMY w/Fanuc Robot
Common Shapes/Raw Materials/Special Processing
Common types of Intrex aerospace components include flanges, couplings, sleeves, nuts, bushings, and housings. They can make parts from solids, castings, and forgings using many different aerospace materials: TZM, Inconel, aluminum, cold roll steel, stainless steel, titanium, Monel, and Hastelloy. Many of the machined parts require special processing: anodizing, heat treating, passivation, mag. particle inspection, coatings, and lubricants. Most of these outside processes are outsourced to approved sources, but the entire process managed by Intrex.
Program Management Capabilities
Program management is foundational to Intrex success. This management is accomplished utilizing a powerful Epicor MRP/ERP software system, making the management, control and integration of the processes seamless and efficient. The Epicor is very powerful and flexible. It can manage the ever-changing demands of the high-mix/low-volume aerospace contract manufacturing market. Our system is coupled with our ISO 9001, AS9100 certifications, and ITAR conformance.
Quality Assurance
Integrated into the Intrex quality system are the requirements of ISO 9001, AS9100 certifications, and ITAR conformance. Intrex has in place the quality assurance processes to provide precision parts, and detailed support documentation. We have made ongoing investments and updates to the quality software. It is entirely integrated into the Epicor system. This allows tracking of production and integration of control metrics, such as CPk and SPCs. We can also use the quality system to generate reports that allow customers to see improvements in quality and monitor waste throughout the production cycle.
The above criteria are necessary for successfully producing precision CNC machined parts. Intrex Aerospace has the experience, the machinery and know-how to satisfy your most demanding supply chain need.
