Exotic Materials for the Aerospace Industry
From our very beginning, Intrex has been producing precision machined parts for the aerospace market. Machining from exotic materials or more difficult-to-machine materials is a requirement in many aerospace applications. We can produce machined parts from solid/castings/forgings, in a variety of materials: aluminums, cold/hot roll steel, stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, hastelloy, and TZM.
Investment in Equipment
We have made significant investments in CNC and support equipment. Having updated, rigid state-of-the-art equipment is one of the prerequisites for successfully machining exotic materials. Our recent investments have included CNC multi-axis (5-axis simultaneous) turn/mill machines, some with dual spindles. All these machines are equipped with tool changers. These rigid multi-axis machines allow us to machine complex shapes in exotic materials. The design of these multi-axis machines minimizes the need for operator intervention, lowering the number of setups and reducing the chance for error stack up. The setup reduction and gained machining efficiencies help reduce the cost in producing these parts in lower volumes.
Oftentimes, producing aerospace components requires ITAR compliance for defense-related parts. Intrex Aerospace has many years of experience with producing parts with ITAR requirements. We are ITAR compliant. We can provide machined parts with the necessary certifications and documentation to meet government standards.
We have an experienced staff that can meet ITAR compliance: audits, lot traceability, documentation, and certifications. We are capable of providing USML-controlled defense and military aircraft parts. We have both AS9100 and ISO 9001 certifications. We are experienced with defense DX or DO requirements.
Our Quality Management is integrated to all facets of our production. We monitor, measure, and manage every aspect of our system. Any outsourcing for special outside processing, including anodize, dry film lube, mag-particle inspection, passivation, powder coating, and more, is also managed through our system.
We have total systems control through our quality assurance for producing components from exotic materials. Our Epicor ERP/MRP software system manages the entire process: material sourcing, production scheduling, special processing management, shipping, and documentation. We are also highly experienced handling FAIs and AOGs.
Keeping cost under control has been central to our success. At Intrex, we know that controlling costs is directly tied to manufacturing efficiencies. We are committed to maximizing manufacturing efficiencies. We are constantly updating our production and support equipment and improving our systems and methods. We believe and train our staff in Six Sigma principles. Lean Six Sigma methods are rooted in process improvement systems like Total Quality Management (TQM). By utilizing these methods, we improve quality while we identify and eliminate waste.
Total System Management
Our capabilities at Intrex go beyond producing multi-axis machined components in exotic materials. We offer complete program management. Our Epicor software system monitors and controls the scheduling, throughput, and reporting of all our production work as it flows through our shop. We also provide engineering support, management of outsourcing of finishing processes, light assembly, kitting, and more.
