New Product Launch
Jan 17, 2024Intrex Aerospace is a CNC contract manufacturer for the aerospace/space/defense market(s). One of our challenges as an aerospace manufacturer, is to be able to introduce new parts onto our shop floor, without disrupting our “normal” production flow. Introducing and integrating new CNC components goes well beyond “just cutting chips”. Introducing new parts while maintaining normal production requires good planning, an experienced staff, and having in-place a new product launch system.
At Intrex we have developed our own product launch system. During the past five years, we have successfully launched over 1,000 new CNC machined parts into our system. The ability to manage a new product launch efficiently and successfully is one of our key core strengths. One of the unique things about our product launch system is that it links specific task management to all our employees involved in the launch process. We monitor and measure in real time. We always know where we are in the process.
There are multiple steps with our launch system, to successfully launch a part. An outline of our system is as follows:
Steps Required in Launch Process
- Team review of drawing, specs, issues
- Engineering review for configuration management
- Quality confirmation of configuration management and specification review
- Quality confirmation of inspection tool availability
- Development of program and tooling needed for each operation.
- Development of inspection plan
- Release to the production floor.
- Evaluate first-run data.
Customer Engagement and Feedback
Engaging with customers and stakeholders is part of an ongoing process throughout the product launch. We inform and share information. Feedback is welcome. This feedback loop allows for continuous improvement and ensures that the product aligns with customer expectations.
The success of our launch process is proven in our metrics and customer satisfaction. Intrex current PPMs are < 50. Our intent is always to exceed our customers’ expectations. We could never accomplish this without our strong system, an excellent staff and great communication with our customers.
